Itinerary 3 days
We propose an itinerary that combine 2 different birding  sites, one with Wetland birds, Delta of Ebro, and the other steppe birds, Monegros. So it’ll be possible to watch more than 100 different species.

We’ll spent all day in the Monegros steppes. In this area there are salt wetlands, where we can spot the Calandra Lark (Melanocorypha calandra), Greater Short-toed Lark (Calandrella brachydactyla), Lesser Short-toed Lark (Calandrella rufescens), the plains with scant vegetation, the perfect habitat for the ground-dwellers like the Dupont’s Lark (Chersophilus duponti) and the Thekla Lark (Galerida theklae), and old farm houses plenties of cavities where could make their nests the European Roller (Coracias garrulus), the Little Owl (Athene noctua) and the Hoopoe (Upupa epops).
In the bushland is very common the Spectacled Warbler (Sylvia conspicillata), the Dartford Warbler (Sylvia undata) and the Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator). Outside the towns we can find steep dry slopes, with some rocky outcrops where we can see the Black Wheatear (Oenanthe leucura) and in winter it’s posible to find the always hard to see Wallcreeper (Tichodroma muraria).
In the morning we will visit the irrigation cultived areas of Monegros. This area is completly different of the north and it’s the perfect habitat of Great Bustard (Otis tarda). This is the large steepe bird in Europe and an emblematic bird that have spectacular communal displays. At the same time we can see the Montagu’s Harrier (Circus pygargus), and in winter is the best place to see the Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus). Late in the afternoon we’ll go to Ebro’s Delta, the second largest wetland of the Iberian Peninsula. We will spent the last sunny hours of the day watching the birds in the lagoons areas. Lots of Coots (Fulica atra) and dubbling ducks, as Red-crested Pochards (Aythya ferina). It’s also a good place to watch the Little Bittern (Ixobrychus minutus).
The last day of the itinerary will be spent around the Ebro’s Delta. We will go to the differents areas of the delta, the beaches where we can see waders gulls and sterns, the lagoons and reeds, plenty of ducks and warblers, the rice cultived areas, with herons looking for something to feed, the grass fields, with waders ang gulls too, and the salt wetlands, where is breeding the Audouin’s Gull (Ichthyaetus audouinii). The most interesting birds will be the Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber), the Slender-billed Gull (Larus genei), the , the Caspian Tern (Hydroprogne caspia), the Pied Avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta), but we’ll enjoy with many more different species.
